All of my work is thrown on the potter’s wheel in red earthenware clay. I have been using smooth red clay as it is easy to decorate. Before it is leather hard, I apply sprigged or hand modelled decorations. Most pieces are dipped in a white slip before painting on coloured slips and scraffito decoration.

I draw free hand or occasionally monoprint a design with under glaze colour. I really like the direct and spontaneous effect that is achieved this way.

Once work is biscuit fired I may add a second layer of decoration in painted under glaze, under glaze pencil, or coloured glaze. It all depends on how the image is developing.

I glaze the pots in a clear or honey coloured glaze, depending on the decoration that has been applied.
